All these gaps and holes will be filled with glue, the excess wiped away, and then sanded. THe sawdust mixes with the glue and fills the hole. Filler is next.

The 1/16" strip stock in Dumas kits is notoriously soft so I glued 1/16" stock to each side of the stringers. This triples the strength and keeps the stringers in their proper shape.
