I plan to have the wheel wells open to some degree and that will mean removing lots of wood once the landing gear doors are fabricated. No specific ideas are in place yet but I find it helps to think about the tasks ahead without formulating a particular plan. Sometimes the solution will suddenly seem clear as a day in Arizona.

The mosr difficult part of the build will be the installation of the landing gear so I'm stopping the infill here until I figure that out.

The stabilizer fits well. It is essential to the rest of the build as it will be utilized, used, as the reference for all alignment.

This orofice in the empennage, hole in the tail to commoners, is created by removing the two stringers used in construction.

Immediately, after his completion, the gregarious Dima is greeted by a member of the crowd of supporters who are gathering to attend tomorrow's retirement photos ceremony. With the warm temps here possibly out of doors!

Starting his life as a standard Williams Bros. pilot figurine, Dmitri Dupebovnick AKA “Dima” is morphing. I tired something that I have been thinking of since embellishing my last pilot figurine. I took a heat gun to the face and head of Dima this AM. I slowly heated his noggin and, before my eyes, Dima began to mutate genetically. Compare the face on the right to the visage of Dima on the left. I think you can see the alteration. Dima is no longer a standard William's Brothers figurine. His face represents the look of the Mongol Russians, the Tartars from southern Russia. However this facial modification method to genetic engineering is a crap shoot. The method of Predetermining the outcome and the controlling of the metamorphosis, has yet to be discovered...something to ponder before festooning a pilot for “Ogre”! Incidentally, you all may remember the aviator on the right. He is one of the Schnazola brothers. They are the gents in the crop dusting business. While the kids were playing with my Stearman crop duster, he ejected from the craft. He was lost for a period of time, almost 2 years. A recent vacuum of the floor under a couch brought him back to me, and eventually to his business. He will, once again, occupy the Stearman drivers seat when that bipe has its spring cleaning.

Leaving his Moai like appearance behind, Dima morphs into a Bolshevik. I shall color his visage tomorrow and add some facial hair.

Looking more like a Moai than a Russian aviator, the painting of Dimitri Dupebrovnick progresses:-)))
