About / Help

The VirtualAerodrome.com is a website for aeromodelling enthusiasts. If your hobby is making flying or static display models of aircraft, this is the place for you. You will have your own 'Hangar', and can upload pictures and discriptions of your models, and particpate in the discussions with other like-minded modellers, builders and flyers. We have many very talented people on here, if you need advice, just ask when you upload a picture of your model!

If this is your first time using the site, please read this :

Welcome to your first time on VirtualAerodrome.com! The first thing you should do is tell the system which aircraft you have in your collection so it knows which aircraft you have pictures for. If you don't do this, you won't be able to upload any images. Click here to tell the system which aircraft you have; don't forget to click 'Save' once you've selected your aircraft.

Uploading Images To The Aerodrome.

  • First thing, make sure you're logged in. You should then see a 'Settings' option under the main menu. Click on this.
  • You should now see the Settings screen, with 'General / Password / Aircraft' in the blue bar. Click on 'Aircraft'.
  • You should now see 'Available Aircraft' and 'Your Aircraft'. Find the aircraft you want to have in your hangar, click on them, and then click the 'Add >>' button to the right of the list. The aircraft should appear in the 'Your Aircraft' list. Repeat that process for all the aircraft you have. Then click 'Save'.
  • Now, you can click 'Upload Images' in the Main Menu.
  • Click on "browse...", and find the image file you want to upload. Then click on Upload. You should see a small preview of the image. Now you can select the model you want to upload it for, add a comment, and click 'Confirm'.
  • That should be it! The image should be about 800x600 or 1024x768 pixel large for best results. Too large, and the site won't accept it.
  • If you are having difficulties resizing your images after you have downloaded (or scanned) them from your camera, please try the excellent (and free) program Irfanview to resize them. Click here to visit the Irfanview website and download it.
