I'm waiting for decals from Guillows for the F-80 so I spent the weekend building the fuselage. It's been shortened to bring it into scale. I've also modified the fuselage where the back of the canopy fits. This is only the first coat of filler so it's still a bit rough.

I've never cared too much for the 109 but a great deal on the kit changed my mind. Course the books and plastic kit cost more but...It will be a D model so that the plastic pieces will be correct. I will vary it by making the prop a three bladed affair rather than the D's two. Also, it will NOT have a yellow nose!

I've noted Poppy's adjustments for scale, Howard's redrawn stabilizer, and Moostang's machine gun placement, and over the years I've heard MUCH about the different versions of the 109. According to further research, all variants had the window marked by the red tape. And yet, there are only two models on the site painted correctly, one being Poppy's plastic model. All the others have this window painted over or in some cases removed. Wonder why?

Main landing gear doors have been added. The vanes in the intakes were made from .020 styrene and balsa sticks. 1 1/4 ounces of lead weight was implanted in the bottom of nose to bring it to a three point stance.
