From the instructions: " Entire upper surface a camouflage combination of light and dark greens mixed with light and dark blues. The upper surface camouflage colors blend into the bottom surface colors which is a combination of pale blue and light gray...spinner is light blue". Drawing on thevast knowledge of our members savvy in such matters, does anyone have an actual reference to such colors actually being used? I know a red spinner is correct for the Mediterranean theater but where was blue used? Are there any references for the markings used on USAF Mustangs during the Korean War? And finally, were any of the bubble top Mustangs in British camo? Thanks.

Wow! It dries in about 20 minutes and sands easily with 220 waterproof sandpaper. Great product, reminds me of Micro-Fill. I figured Poppy was right so I bought 3 tubs. :-)

On Poppy's advice, I'm trying this as filler. It was $3.79 at the local store.

Four days worth...It's now ready for the first of two applications of filler. This kit came on the market in 1961 and I'm sure Guillows has sold a ton or two of them. I built one in 1969 and left it covered but unpainted. This kit has a few problems. Some of the formers are very poorly cut relative to the proper outline so make sure they are checked on the plan before being used. It's never made sense to have an instrument panel at the angle built per plans since that would cause incredible glare so I've added wood to bring it perpendicular. (This occurs in several Guillows kits) I don't normally comment on the wood since it's all covered but this kit has a couple of sheets that look almost like raw walnut and are substantially harder than the other wood. Fortunately all die cutting is acceptable. I had planned to use 3/32" stringers instead of the called for 1/16" ones and that was made much easier because most of the notches in the formers needed very little work to accept the larger wood. Thta's good for me but not for anyone who wants to use the smaller wood and even the plans show a larger notch. It's taken four days to get it this far and none of the aforemwntioned problems matter once the shape of the plane emerges. Beautiful lines!

I don't thiink this is a "relief hole", just a plain hole.

I hope you can see the holes in this. There are two just like it on the other side plus another one at the rear. I complained to Guillows and was told these are relief vents and that other wise the canopy would not mold. I think that's BS. I've been building these kits for more than 50 years and I don't remember seeing this. In fact, for years the canopies from Guillows were right up there with their decals but this is clearly not the case these days. If relief holes are needed, why put them where the paint line is? The quality and clarity is not up to par, either. I wonder if any of you have had the same problems with canopies? And Bill, will you please post this pic on the Guillows forum for me? Thanks.
