AUW is 21.3 grams, motor is 1/8" single loop 9" long FAI tan SS, and sporting the Guillow's prop and thrust button (wanted to give them a try). The "USAF" decal is a cut up "U.S.ARMY" decal. In hindsight I think I would have prefered the Army version.

New batteries are installed and decals have been applied. AUW is 58.5 grams, the motor will give a max of 14 grams of thrust and will run for about 40 seconds with most of the power in the first 20 seconds.

The extra battery adds 3.5 grams for a AUW of 56.5 grams but thrust has increased from about 9 grams to about 14.5 grams. I think it was a good weight/thrust trade off.

My $2 pack of replacement 50 mAh batteries for the Corsair arrived this morning, as did an idea I got from a website who I can't site due to uhhhh... operator error on a computer operating system upgrade last weekend. To the post office!

Covered with tissue and am working on the canopy pieces. Forgot to use black tissue so I have to paint the nose, but it should be fine. Esitmated AUW is 20 grams plus the weight of crystal clear and decals.

The fuselage frame is complete for now, on to the wing. Small hatch is held on by magnets.

The Tyro 100 frame is basically a plywood box surrounded by balsa. But even the balsa sections are quite strong, notice the laminated bracing visible on the inside of the far wall. This gives me confidence that the Tyro will be a durable first flyer.

As you can see, I have decided to go ahead and build the MM Tyro 100 and learn to fly with it. I am told the MM Hellcat is a very good flyer but the Tyro will be easier to repair and I won't mind so much if I bang it up. Doculam is the covering of choice.

SIG Cub that I threw together today. It should weigh an ounce, but it weighs 1.59 oz due to sheet wood that weighs 40 lbs/cu.ft! Somehwere a guy restoring the roof of a Model A is wondering why he got balsa instead of the ironwood he ordered.

This picture pretty much sums up how my R/C mod flies. AUW is 5.82 ounces, which makes the wing loading 6 oz/ft^2 (nearly as much as the MM Hellcat). Mostly to blame is that I have 3x110 mAh NiCd for the motor and 4x300 mAh NiMh for the radio and servo.

DD's master carvings get a coat of the good stuff.
