SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 12-Mar-08 05:03 | | Views : 779 | The old wing was quickly repaired then cleft in twain to allow for insertion of this newly built extension. The additional wing area is to compensate for the added weight of the RCC gear. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 11-Mar-08 20:49 | | Views : 802 | The stabilizer and rudder were several feet from the rest of the wreckage, partlially hidden by some brush and leaves. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Build | 11-Mar-08 20:11 | | Views : 826 | This is about like I found it, except the wing was still attached and it was soaking wet. Damage suggests the tail took a heavy blow. In fact, I just realized the stabilizer is missing, I will have to go look for it, I wouldn't want to litter. |
SteveM | Dumas Kit #213, F4U Corsair | Build | 11-Mar-08 13:46 | | Views : 2133 | I decided the 5" prop may be too large for the direct drive motor and switched it out for a 4" prop. It is identical to the prop that put the One Nite 28 into the top of a tree, so it should be good enough for this bird. |

SteveM | Dumas Kit #213, F4U Corsair | Build | 10-Mar-08 04:06 | | Views : 2379 | Plastics are a terrible fit! Downright disgraceful on the oil coolers. Weight as shown is about 47g, flying weight should be around 50g. |

SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Parked | 09-Mar-08 18:47 | | Views : 734 | My, that is a tall tree, what is that red spec near the top? |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 09-Mar-08 18:46 | | Views : 734 | Next I tried the 4" prop, not expecting it to do too well. Initially it did climb very slowly and looked like it wouldn't fly long. But then it began to climb in the thermals and got higher than with the 5.5" prop! |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 09-Mar-08 18:44 | | Views : 684 | Just look how high it is compared to the trees in the background! After this flight I put on the 7" prop but it only flew about 10 seconds as it slowly lost altitude. |
SteveM | Peck Polymers One Nite 28 | Flying | 09-Mar-08 18:42 | | Views : 774 | Despite the forecast for showers, we have a sunny afternoon! So I rushed back to the park and launched with the 5.5" prop using the same battery chage as before. This time thermals helped it get very high. Flight time was probably around a minute. |
