The fin and rudder are trial fitted in place. The plans call for 1/16th balsa for the fin and rudder assembly, however I used the thicker 3/16, it looks better and is much easier to work with. |

The 1/24th scale Me 262 fuselage is built, doped, sanded, and had nose blacked added and shaped. after being shaped generous amounts of Aero Gloss Balsa Fillercoat Primer are brushed and sanded, time after time. |

I bought this decal sheet when I was thinking of doing the kit in it's 1/32 scale. The top is Galland's aircraft. However, some 25 years ago, when I was building plastic I remember a article/interview with Galland in which he described lhis 262 carrying the Mickey Mouse. The article featured a drawing of his 262 with a mickey mouse on the side just like it was carried on his 109. Of course the Color Police official said he was "probably mistaken", I am not one to disagree with the General's discription of his own plane, so I will finish it with a MIckey Mouse. |
