As you can see from the enormous, grotesque horrible but very functional trim tabs, this model actually flew Sunday morning. The flights were not the kind of flights you post on youtube or that qualify you for nationals, but it flew reasonable well, if fast and straight. I had to add alot of lead to the nose and my noseblock leaves something to be desired, but it flew nice, level and straight for about 10 seconds.

All ready for the canopy and some airbrushing - but that will have to wait for the weekend. I am still planning on flying this butcher bird. Any ideas from the crowd on a prop / rubber combo? I'm on unknown ground on this one.

Chris: 1, Guillows plastic, 0. I had to resort to some uh, unorthodox methods.

The kit is starting to look like a Wurger.

I'm trying to fly this one. I dremeled out as much wood as I can (anyone who has built these 500 series knows there is alot of extra wood) and substituted the Guillows stringers for some really light 1/16th stringers I bought at the local hobby shop.

Here we go again. This is the second time I have built this kit in 6 months. I just can't get enough of the Wurger's perfect proportions.

All I can tell you about this thing is that it was made at the Naval Gun Factory in Watervliet NY in 1943. Amazing, isn't it?

16" gun barrels for the monster in the next image. These pictures were taking at the Yuma Proving Ground.
