Don C | 22-Sep-14 01:17 | Thanks to the men of the 63rd Bomb Squadron,43rd Bomb Group,5th AAF, who flew B-17 SN 124554, The Mustang, out of Port Morsby, New Guinea in 1942-43 for their service and especially to Ed Gammill for his help in giving 1st hand information and detailing for this model. |
Creosotewind | 22-Sep-14 11:41 | Very nice looking model. But give us some details. What scale/wingspan? Materials? A flyer? Inquiring minds want to know. |
Don C | 22-Sep-14 13:35 | 1/16 scale. 6 1/2' wingspan. Mostly balsa. Display model. It was the first time I had modeled since about 1960. Took about 2 years. Learned some new stuff, but after all that, there's no way I would let it end up like the fliers of my long ago youth.Trying to get the build pictures uploaded, but I do better with models than with the computer |
Creosotewind | 22-Sep-14 13:37 | 1/16? Excellent! I have a Cleveland 3/4" B-17 that I am waiting to better my skills before I tackle it. This gives some great inspiration.

Don C | 23-Sep-14 19:19 | I see some pretty impressive skills demonstrated in your hangar. My next one is a Dave Diels C-46 Commando. I started to get the 1/16 to match my others, but dropped to 1/32 when I realized it would be bigger than the 17. Running out of room. |
