Tasman Bay, Nelson, New Zealand on a beautiful Spring day and what a bloody hike up the hill ! Teenage son is in the foreground- no problems going up hill for him ! |

Nice photo Nigel, it looks like our winters finally over:-) |

Thanks Reuben, it seems like it's been a long winter but days like this one really make get the endorphines humming. If I threw a rock hard enough I'd hit my house down below - and probably then get arrested ! |

If we had a hill like that in my backyard, we'd be flying our sailplanes every day. Are those glassy stripes(?) in the bay indicative of the wind direction (R to L on image)? Tell your son the current speed record for rc sailplanes is 392 mph (about 630 kph). It's called Dynamic Soaring (DS). YouTube it. "Kinetic" is the record holders model name. |

The stripes are the water channels leading out from the foreshore. I spose it would be a good place for gliding but the walk to get a plane that didn't return would be hard going ! It's damned near vertical over the bank. I checked out that U-tube clip, that's nothing short of amazing ! |

Beautiful country! Looks like a bit of logging done. |

That's right poppy - logging everywhere. Makes a change from seeing sheep which outnumber the human population 10 to one. |
