The bombers were in town this weekend. They wanted $12 to get closer but I've seen them before so I declined. About $400 for a ride! |

I popped for the ride in '07. It was worth it. Gave a whole new meaning to "Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines". |

A ride in their Mustang costs $2300 for a half hour, $3200 for an hour. |

Now that's a bit steep. |

If it means anything, prior to the fatal crash the following year, while attending the EAA convention in Oshkosh, I spoke with fellow passengers who ponied up the $400 for a twenty minute ride in the Concorde. They said it was worth it. The Concorde performed a low fly-by and did a couple of touch-n-go's. Everyone in the plane were cheering and whooping it up. The irony of this is the pilots purposely left the cockpit door open and many said they could see the captain looking back over his shoulders grinning from ear to ear as if he was enjoying the thrill himself. |

I once met a guy who paid $700 for a bottle of wine. He said it was worth it. Hell, I've heard of people spending more than that on a simple Guillows kit! |

I wouldn't spend that much on a Guillows kit (or a bottle of wine), but the Hasagawa Dr1 or their Camel.....? Probably. (BTW, over at Costco they have on display a bottle of Cognac that is going for $12,000. Is the hangover that much better with that bottle?) |

There's a really interesting book called "The Billionaire's Vinegar" about really, really high end wine collectors. Tens of thousands of dollars for a bottle that might have turned. Personally, if I had that money I would be booking rides on these planes instead. |

Got a ride in one when I was a kid and my dad worked at Wright Field. What a thrill! Got into one a few years back and was amazed at how claustrophobic it was inside. Funny, it didn't seem than way when I was eight...B-24s have a lot more room. |

Is this the B-17 that crashed last year? It reported engine trouble upon takeoff and couldn't make it back to the field. Several people were killed and several more badly injured.
