| Lacking a "museum", I've donated all my models to the Bismarck Public School system. They are expanding a building on the campus of Bismarck State College which will be a career center with exhibits about many different careers. A full scale replica of the Wright Flyer will be included and my models will be on permanent display, as well, with most in glass cases and some hanging. I don't know all the details yet but these are the basics. |

| Hm. That would be a trip of roughly 2600 km / 1615 miles. North Dakota is already half the size of Germany, but has less than 650.000 inhabitants. The U.S. is so inconceivable big from my perspective .... |

| Thanks to all. To inspire is the goal. Heinrich, you're absolutely correct. I can't even imagine driving that far anymore although it didn't seem to bother these folks at all. Xanadu, perhaps you can come down when the place opens? I'm thinking about flying up there and it would be great to meet you. |

| DD...Bravo, I hope your wonderful work is appreciated by those that view it, especially the kidlings. Unfortunately your works of art are hand made with slow methodical patience and precision...love. As a former teacher I know that there still may be hope for the appreciation of work like you do, but I also realize that those that appreciate work like yours are the exception, not the rule. The craft that we generate here is not the norm for today's young...it is the exception. It does not provide instant gratification, nor is it generated via computer. I sincerely hope that your effort saves a few minds from turning into putty. |

| Whether my models are ever appreciated by the kids will probably depend on whether they build them or not. The school, and Joyce and Leroy, have already shown as much appreciation as I could have hoped for.I don't have kids but I don't think they're all going to hell in a handbasket. I do think it's the responsibility of parents and teachers to expose children to as much education as possible and provide as much encouragement as they can. I can't hope that anyone will ever appreciate what I do as much as I do and if you don't feel that way about what you're doing, you should change hobbies. What I can hope for is that by putting my models on display in an academic environment some young person will be inspired to say, "Well, if he can do it, so can I." That's what got me through basic training. Seeing a poorly made Guillows B-17 with decals on backwards in my LHS several years ago convinced me that I could build it better. Seeing my first attempts at painting in the cold and sober light of a new day convinced me I could do better. I was inspired and I was most appreciative when they actually started to look as if I knew what I was doing. Models are no different. |

| David, you are correct, it is all in the hands of the teachers, and mostly the parents to follow through with the education. Our two were exposed to arts and crafts early and they enjoy it, and are now getting more detailed in their projects. I encourage, but do not expect them to build models, and they do it because they want to. |

| Mr. Duckett, not only is your artistry and craftsmanship inspiring, your generosity is world class. To be able to part with treasures such as these knowing how much time, effort, heart and soul went into them is truly commendable. I certainly hope that they inspire those who see them to not only to take up a creative art, but to give of themselves as you have. Seriously, it takes a better man than I to do what you have done today. Amazing sir, simply amazing. |
