Xanadu | 27-Nov-06 23:00 | Not overly excited over it, but its doen and hanging out. |
jgood | 27-Nov-06 23:03 | Looks good to me, Xanadu. The only thing that occurs to me is maybe you could try using fishing line for the hanging wires, they won't be so visible? |
Xanadu | 27-Nov-06 23:35 | I agree on the fishing line, have to go and raid someones fishing box!
Just used what I had to get it up and out of the way. |
jerry campbell | 02-Dec-06 07:43 | I don't agree, I think the Fw 190 is one of the most exciting a/c built. Guillows choice of markings and color scheme leave a lot to be desired.
I plan to built a 190 and cover with balsa sheet for teather line flying. JC |
jerry campbell | 02-Dec-06 07:52 | Would you outline any problems you had or suggestions to make when building the Wurger. JC |
Xanadu | 02-Dec-06 11:36 | The wing had a hard time conforming to the fuselage, the curves were not the same, really annoyed me. A lot of extra work was required to mate it better. And the wing got a twist on one side that I had a bugger of a time getting out. Never had that happen before.......
You need to put an extra stringer along the canopy lower edge just where the canopy meets, there is not enough meat there.
I decided to get away from the usual paint schemes of the FW as shown on the box, and in other pics, but I still am not extremely happy with it. Gotta get me an airbrush to try someday!
Yes, and marking need improvement thats for sure.

jerry campbell | 02-Dec-06 12:54 | Thanks for the tips on building the FW, it will save me some time and headache when I get ready for my FW project. I've built a half dozen plastic FWs using an airbrush to finish them. If you get an airbrush you will love it and wonder how you got along without it. I'm in London at the present time and will be back in the states in early Feb. To practice my balsa skills I'm working on a Guillow's Thomas Morse Scout. Thanks again. JC |
