SteveM | 06-Feb-08 03:59 | Getting started on the painting, but I will need to get the canopy on before I get too far. |
poppy | 06-Feb-08 04:50 | Looking very nice indeed! |
moostang51 | 06-Feb-08 17:00 | Great belly color Steve. What type paint are you using? |
SteveM | 06-Feb-08 17:30 | Liquitex. I have black, white, blue, green, red, brown, and a medium gray that I use to mix all of my colors. The belly color was the medium gray with some white and blue added. The sand color was a lot of white, some brown, a touch of red, and a splash of yellow. I know the red+yellow and brown is a little redundant but it got me where I needed to go. |
Erik Cyne | 20-Jul-09 17:02 | very nice, how do you fill the skeleton? do you cover it with 1mm balsa ?? |
SteveM | 20-Jul-09 20:35 | I built the fuselage per plan then doubled the stringers then doubled them again for a total of 4 times the number of stringers. Then I filled in the largest gaps with bits of scrap wood then applied filler as shown here. After the filler was dry and sanded I covered it with wet silkspan then primed and painted. |
Erik Cyne | 20-Jul-09 22:27 | Thanks! |
