LASTWOODSMAN | 09-Apr-17 10:55 | This chrome jewel was parked outside our Historic Hangar yesterday - I had to take a pic - I can't rmember what it is called - anyone know ? |
Huey V77 | 09-Apr-17 12:05 | It's an RV4 or a RV6, and its polished aluminum... Lots of work to keep it that clean. |
Don C | 09-Apr-17 14:05 | Whatever you decide to call it, I think I'd wet myself if I got to strap it on my back! |
LASTWOODSMAN | 09-Apr-17 16:54 | Thanks Huey - you really know your planes! I didn't sound like a total "dummy", when I phoned the Windsor Flying Club inquiring about the RV6 - they knew the plane and pilot. It's a "Van's RV-7", upgraded from the RV-6, introduced 2001, with larger wings, larger fuel tank (38 gal prev to 42 gal now), and a larger rudder to improve spin recovery. It's a home built kit plane by Richard VanGrunsven - price of the kit $23,000 to $34,500, and estimated completion cost at $55,000 to $116,000 depending on installed avionics equipment, and finishing - it takes 1,800 to 2,000 hours to build it yourself. |
