RTD89 | 14-Mar-12 18:58 | Hey Poppy, got a question for ya. I was thinking of using your covering technique rather than using block filling for my AT-6. The reason being that the stringers were extremely weak when I started building, even after I doped them. I was wondering what size thickness of balsa wood you used. I was thinking of using 040 thickness pieces that I just bought, guess I'm worried about it making the SNJ look too chunky. |
poppy | 15-Mar-12 04:51 | I use 1/32" balsa covered with medium silkspan. The trick is to sand VERY lightly because the wood is already thin. This has worked on most all my models with no bulkiness effect on final outlines. I guess that converts to .010cm. |
