| Ryan, micro-fill went on over the planking, then primer and paint. I didn't pay too much attention to making it a perfect surface because I wanted some weathering to be applied. If you want a perfect surface I'd suggest using the silkspan or as some of the others have done, perhaps an automotive body filler. I'm going to try the latter on the mossie.
Yes John, fortunately New Zealand is filled with warbird addicts so when we are invaded by Australia our Kittyhawks will one again lead our aerial defence : ) |

| I don't see why not, but you would want to have several coats applied (and sanded lightly between coats) to make sure of an even surface. That rascally balsa has a way of poking its rough surface through in places that previously looked okay. Fine if you want rough but not fine if you want super smooth. |

| What exactly is micro-fill, is it just a sealant? I tried searching for it but I couldn't find anything. |

| It's a balsa wood filler, wipe it on then sand it off. It may be off the market now - which would be a shame but you can also use Hobby lite which is also a really good filler and it should be available from most hobby stores. |
