Image Comments John M Oshust 17-Feb-10 07:29 From poppy's Dauntless build I noticed the hoist cable in the pit. Now I know why it is there. Factoid... The SBD,primarily a carrier base plane, did not have folding wings. It barely fit, diagonally on the flight deck elevator. To save space on the hanger deck, SBDs were suspended from the ceiling on the hanger deck. My reference books show them suspended.
