David Duckett 22-Jul-20 12:21 Top Gun used an F-5 as the enemy in a real situation. The Navy uses them as the aggressor aircraft in their training. I was actually surprised to learn that F-18s are now being used, as well, and some have been brought out of storage for the job. The Navy has only them and F-35s as far as I know for fighters. The Air Force has their own version of aggressors, using F-5s and F-16s with their versions of splinter schemes. There are quite a few different schemes in use.
