The bubble canopy was a British modification. SteveM 14-Apr-08 13:40 I guess that makes it a late production P-51B/C from the 8th or 9th group. Initially Dallas was to make the P-51E but before production began it was renamed to P-51D to match the name used at the plant in CA, avoiding the issues the parts suppliers had with the B/C naming convention.
