David Duckett | 28-Aug-09 13:33 | So you know where to cut... |
pfinn | 28-Aug-09 15:09 | Are you making a small overlap onto the previously applied section? And if so, do you sand off the double thickness after the doping, or will the primer coats take care of the seams? |
David Duckett | 28-Aug-09 15:59 | I have sinned before doing as you ask but now I'm making the pieces fit right up against the other piece, hopefully. Any small gaps that might happen are just natural panel lines. |
pfinn | 28-Aug-09 18:35 | Do you cut through the center of the seam overlap through both layers of silkspan, and pull out the remnant sliver of the previously applied piece of silkspan from under the the newly applied piece to end up with an almost gapless seam (kinda like Marquetry)? |
David Duckett | 28-Aug-09 19:14 | I have the silkspan taped to the fuselage and have traced thr pattern onto it. I'll now remove the silkspan and cut out the pattern on the pencil lines. Now when I lay the wet silkspan onto the fuselage, all I have to do is line it up and dope it down. |
pfinn | 28-Aug-09 19:22 | Cool. Starting on those things this weekend, too. |
