very early in the shaping and filling process. sometimes the simplest looking shapes can be deceptively difficult to replicate. this one has the intake, the spine, and the forward fuselage and canopy / windscreen flanges...getting it smooth along all the seams and bulkheads will also take extra time. The aircraft will be modeled with the gear down. flaps and slats extended, airbrake extended, and possibly with the canopy open. I want it to look as if it is undergoing pre-flight inspection on the ramp...maybe...

This is the part where you realize how "Sneezy" got his name.

How do you like that filler?
heywooood05-Jun-17 16:34
the new filler is great. I can shape it a little easier with the knife and it sands to a smoother surface than the Hobbico paste. I still use the Hobbico for heavier applications because it feels a little more 'structural' when it has hardened. Also - I can mix them both with the sealer I am using as they both dissolve into that liquid to make a nice, heavy coating with better filling properties for the finer seams and wood grain openings that can be problematic with either filler alone or sealer alone. I mix a clump uf the filler and pour an equal sized dollop of the sealer into a plastic tray or lid and mix it up with the brush...very nice consistency that sands beautifully after it has cured on the model

Never thought of that....what kind of sealer are you using?
Don C05-Jun-17 18:17
That sounds like a really good idea.

Currently using Pine Pro Sealer - a water based sealer that can be mixed with any water based filler
