Got a question for ya'll...how shape-able is silkspan when applied wet? I want to cover the front section to hide any flaws in the wood planking when I paint but im not sure how to proceed... |

| It should work fine up to the 2nd rib from the end of the wing but it will not for the U-shaped area at the front. That appears to be a filler and if so I wouldn't cover that or the tubes. Before painting, I would give the entire structure a couple of coats of clear dope to seal everything. Wet silkspan works the same on solid surfaces as open framweork. |

| Thanks for the tip David, I appreciate the reference photo from your DC-3 also. One more question though...why not cover the filler, will the dope break it down or just too tough a curve to cover? |

| The filler is already smooth and paint will also be smooth, as with the tubes. If you cut the relief strips in the wet silkspan, make very sure you have a sharp knife. The thinner the strips the easier it will be to get them to fit around the curve. As the dope and silkspan start drying they both shrink and you can see where any cuts will be needed. |
