As usual the Diels Raiden has quality ingredients, a full set of plans, printed both sides that I normally make a copy so it can be cut apart. Decals, strip wood, prop and rubber, vac canopy and spinner, three dif thickneses of print wood, and small 3/view of the subject..

Clearly there are a couple of things here that are not normally included in a Diels kit; the white plastic pieces and wheels. It also looks as if the canopy is something other than a smooth piece of plastic. But then, I notice the print date is 2004 and all the kits I have seen are from 20 years or so earlier. It would be nice if these updates and changes were a part of every Diels kit. Cramming all the pieces to be cut out on small sheets is ludicrous. There's really not much to these kits and a good sheet of balsa just simply isn't that expensive.

Unfortunately the canopy is still a smooth piece of plastic and the wheels are simpley turned wood. No big improvement but th print wood is good, and the strip wood is soft and light which is good for flyers. I, however, prefer the hard strip wood that Guillows suplies.

Jerry's absolutely right. In addition to that, the decals look really great but are really flimsy. These kits are designed to fly and are built very light which means the possibility of breaking something during construction is high. I do like the kits in spite of all that because they are very close to scale, much more so than some Guillows kits which have been mentioned before. I also like that they are all in the same scale. I will require replacement canopies for both of my new Diels kits since both are flawed but I'm fairly sure they will arrive without a hassle. I'm picky about canopies.
