John Cooper 08-Oct-09 08:35 Removing balsa from a Guillows model always helps. These models are so robust that you can actually remove alot more balsa. I suggest cutting the longeron, with the square holes in it, down to half its thickness or less. You can also safely trim down the thick side longeron by half. Basically almost all the model wood can be trimmed to half thickness. scigs30 08-Oct-09 15:46 Believe it or not, I think the build is much more faster just by simply replacing the wood with quality balsa. My recent Guillow builds I used the patterns and cut out the pieces with not other modifications to make them light. Just by replacing the balsa these birds do fly.
