That's a plastic model right? If so, which one?
BriandKilby01-Apr-22 15:30
yes, plastic. revell ju 87g stuka. don't use mission models paints, have had problems with the yellow and light blue sticking on to my fingers and then onto another dry paint even after it has been dry for days.

I use a lot of Vallejo Paints. I think acrylic is not as easy as the old enamel paints, but definitely not as dangerous and smelly. Acrylics do require a good clean base coat, and no skin oils or other contaminates. They are temperature sensitive too. Takes a lot to get a good result.

they say you should wash the plastic in detergent? i use the ammo mig paint, have used some of the vallejo paints. miss the model masters. :( have been painting at 80*-85* in my control sensitive room. :)

i've been having trouble finding some paints, ed, was wondering where do you get your paint?

Amazon generally. My local hobby shop has a selection of many different brands, but are missing some colors out of all of them. Supply chain issues again. Also, I'm using pre-mixed airbrush paints (Vallejo Model Air) most of the time since I'm airbrushing a lot. Amazon sells these in packages of "theme" colors (US Camo, German Camo, etc.). I know some of the colors are not absolutely accurate, but they are close.

thanks, ed, i also do airbrushing. i have purchased some paints from amazon, spruce bros., and megahobbies. i just thought there would be a hobby shop that would carry a large quantity of paints. the hobby shops around here seem to be going out of business. i've seen the boxed airbrush assortments, they only have single bottles of paints, when you might need a couple of the colors.

I agree Brian that it is a challenge! And hobby shops are few and far between now. I've got a pretty good one about 10 miles away, but it's one of the last in the Seattle area that is specific to our type of hobby. I wish there was a better answer than Amazon and boxed sets of paint that you may never use. I'll let the group know if I discover something.
