The never ending, scandalous legal battles between the Wright Brothers, with their patented "wing warping", against Curtiss with his "ailerons", and everybody else for that matter, left the US five years behind Europe in aviation advancement - with no US fighters available for WW1 - then the President of the United States stepped in ...
