You can also see some of the "wood" that was painted on. poppy 12-Dec-07 04:46 Incredible! This looks like varnished wood. This is what really set the Albatros apart from the other WW1 birds. I think Italy had one with varnished wood also. Had a V type rear fuselage. The Pfalz D111 was also covered w/plywood but almost always was painted.
