Solution to not wanting to cut 100 notches. Sand the former down 3/32 and plank the thing.

If I were smart enogh, one of those lasr cutters would be nice.

After 3 applicaations of spackle, this is 1 coat of sandable promer sanded just until some wood appears. Any rough spots stand out like a sore thumb/

Heywoood, I've been watching that FlighSim release since they put out the press on it last year! I've been a flight sim guy since the early 90's, and have had the opportunity to fly some of the actual Air Force Sims, but this one looks like it is going way beyond anything we have seen in the past. I hope it lives up to the hype!

Btw - are you modeling her with gear down and ski’s attached as in the photo? In FSX there is a Baz bird modeled by a third party that is a joy to fly. Also: In case anyone is curious about it, MS is releasing a brand new flight sim this year that will blow the current iteration away completely.

I was going to ask about an over / under but I’m thinking now you meant the whole durn thing..lol

Don, If I could accurately guess that, I'd move to Las Vegas and become a millionaire! :)

Ah, so you use CA when you can get to the "backside" of the infill and Testors Green when you can't. How does the green sand? I've not used that in Dogs Years. I've been using CA so long now!

Rough sanded after coloring the ribs and stringers red. Theis is the first coat of spackle. So far I have only broken the little wingtip piece off once. Any guesses what the numbr will be by the time it's done?
Don C, Comment for image # 4185818 Feb 20 14:15
I try to keep the infill piece a hair higher than the ribs and stringers as they are not always even.

Ed, this might explain better. This is the bottom. When doing the top I could put the CA nozzle through and apply it to the inside of the wing. Here I fit the pice of infill and then apple the Testor's green to the sides of the hole and then place the piece of infill into the hole.

These have been glued with CA from the bottom. Some day I'm going to build a Mossie. I'll be watching.

I agree with that. I do use it though and but I only apply it to the joints from the underside. When I work from the top side, I use Testor's green. After getting a snug fit, I apply the glue to the ribs and stringers (four sides of the hole) and then seat the piece jus a bit higher than the ribs. This picture is the first sanding. After this I put on 2 -3 coats of spackle and sand them. Eventually it will get 3 coats of dope and then silkspan.

Thanks Don! Now I'm thinking of posting a how-to series. Maybe it will be useful for the group? I think I want to build a scratch built DH Mosquito next. Could be great candidate.

Don, what glue do you use for the infill?. I've tried CA in the past, but always found it hard to sand.
Don C, Image # 4185317 Feb 20 13:18

Both wings built, one infilled, the other half. Ed, I've cut enough balsa to last a while and I still have the fuselage to go. :( LIke your system very much.
Don C, Image # 4185217 Feb 20 13:15

Wing center section infilled. Instructions from both plans are quite similar.
