Nice work! Can't wait to see this one.

Thank you, Biplane guy - that helps. I was thinking of emailing her once I have it painted to see what she says about this process, especially related to the cowling. These transfers are like the Dumas ones I expect but was hoping they are thinner than those. I still haven’t pulled the cover sheet off preferring to wait until it’s time to use them. It gets dusty here in the ol hangar

Your engine looks great! I used Callie's transfers on my Tiger Moth, DR1, and Sopwith Camel builds none of which really had any compound curves to deal with. The transfers conformed to the rib tapes on the wings very nicely and the few inevitable air bubbles will disappear if you follow Callie's instructions. Just be careful placing the transfers. You can't slide them around like a decal. Once they touch the surface they're stuck. Dampening the surface prior to application didn't help much. Looking forward to following your build.

I have acquired the decals for this aircraft from Callie Graphics and they look very good however I am concerned that the transfers wont conform to the compound curves on the cowling. Does anyone here have experience with Callie’s work and should I expect to have some issues? I can always paint the cowl and just use the other decals she provided for the rest of the project..

still working on the engine - much detail yet to add but this gives you a sense of what I'm after I suppose...and then there's the cowling and THAT engine still to be worked on. ai dios mio the masking and painting is going to be a challenge

still need to install the trailing LG struts but I think the hard part is done..well - until it's time to mask and paint it anyway

Thanks Don - the spats are coming along better than I thought they would..still working out all the struts. Should be fun

Each will have its own prop..a little extry work but that’s no big deal
edtherenderman, Comment for image # 4172109 Jan 20 14:51
That's a cool idea! Will the prop just plug into both engines?

Looking good. Nice trousers.

I want to be able to display both the cowled and non cowled version of this aircraft - so I embedded a magnet into the firewall so the Williams Bro's engine could be removed. It could not be made to fit inside the cowling so this is plan B

adjusting the kit cowling, scratch building wheel pants, infilling the fuselage

work work work..

I’ve imagined that scenario a time or two (acquiring some local store inventory for peanuts) - but I’ve never been so lucky either. I don't often have any kits in my possession other than the one on the board - I think in the past I considered it a distraction. Currently I have three here and two on the way and a suddenly crowded event calendar that may keep me from working on any of them for a while..

Not that I need any more kits. We've (mt son James and I) been very fortunate with the generosity of some other VA posters and have been gifted pretty much a multitude of kits over the years.

Speaking for myself, a "Mini-Series" would be enjoyable. I missed out on one of these kits was sold half price when a local hardware store (in Solvang California) liquidated their entire Balsa kit department. I went back the next day and some gentleman bought their entire stock of kits (about 30) just a few hours earlier for $150. boo hoo.

anyone else think that a mini-series covering this aviator in particular, or the Golden Age of aviation (air racing focused) in general would be a good idea ..? ..oh the FLYING there would be
