It's like waking up in The Land of the Giants!

Some idea as to size. Rear is 31", front 28". Will build in 2 sections then join.

Rear fuselage trial fit.

The reason for time spent on ID of parts is because plans and numbers on parts do not match and there are no details of parts shape on plans. Simpleflyer did a great job of separating the small parts and banding the formers and ribs together. Lucky for me that missing parts had a mate to use as pattern, 2 ribs and 2 spars. I also had to re-glue some plywood parts that had become delaminated over the years. But overall, not bad for a 52 year old kit.

That's a 6' table keels are on. The masking tape marks 58" from opposite end. I spent this week identifying parts and cutting and few missing pieces.

Fuselage jigs made from scrap 5/8" balsa.

Fuselage and nacelle plan mounted on folding plastic foam board. They can be taken from hooks and folded in half when not in use.

Or tie yourself to a tree!Jokingley of course!Thats what we use to say when flying the 60 to 75 power ones with 64 inch wing span and with very long control lines.

As a "Kidling" my uncle let me fly U-control planes. This puppy would have lifted me off the ground....if we could get 4 engines to run smoothly!

Well after all, y'all, Poppy IS a Texan!

82 1/2"x 58"...that's one big model.
poppy, Comment for image # 1213629 Apr 09 09:29
Thanks, Al, I will try. This kit is designed as a U-control. With 4 engines, it must have taken some long cables and a strong arm to control it.

"Let the good times roll!" I'll concur with that, David, and thanks for getting Poppy to accept the kit. And, Poppy, I know you will do the kit justice. I've begun a folder and am saving your progress pics and comments. I have a feeling that it will become sizable folder by the time this project is finished. Poppy, may you have good luck with it. Al

Hello Poppy, I have been fortunate enough to save some of these old plans by taking them to a reprographics service with the ability to copy them full size. I make several copies so I can cut them up for patterns or just make them fit a building board.

Wow...blue prints what a novel idea!

The "easy build" plans.
poppy, Image # 1213528 Apr 09 21:00

Forward fuselage. I was able to save all the pertinent info. The only portions lost were just blue background. Plans made from stiff blueprint paper of the era and they want to crumble linto sawdust when unfolded.

Rear fuselage, rudder and fin & stabs. and elevators. I have to get a longer board or join 2 pieces to be able to mount the fuselage portion.
