Executive decisions today. Split the build into two parts. Fuselage, tail and cockpit. Nose with landing gear, engine and nose detail. I made a # 2 former, cuthe the nose free and attached it to its own former. When both pieces are complete, I will a

Ultimate touch that requires a complex construction process, but I think I have it thought out....I hope!

Once you complete the "Cigar", the wheels will be the ultimate touch!!
John M Oshust, Image # 522406 Dec 07 22:13

The "Golden Age" wheels are from Williams Bros. about $7.00

I have been tinkering with the idea of removing the fire wall and first former from the fuse to make LG install easier. Then reattache the assembly. Decisions as to method tomorrow.

I must tear the nose apart and cut this block down to fit the wheel. When fitted there will not be much of the block remaining. Sheeting with bass proceeds W?O hitches.

Amongst the clutter the Barrel settles in for a long Winter's nap!
John M Oshust, Image # 520905 Dec 07 23:45

Sheeting begins. 1/32 bass wood and Aluminum gets the nod.

The beginning of the cockpit!

I thought out the procedure to fabricate the LG. I consumed my mini lumber yard adding extra stringers. Sheeting this puppy will be a challenge. Gee if it were a plastic model it may have 100 parts!

This thing is getting all kinds of names, cigar, camel, but we know its a "BARREL". The cigar name was due to a "Gallow" error. The Barrel is really shaping up nice. What are you planning to cover the fuse with?
John M Oshust, Image # 520404 Dec 07 20:21

Uncle Carlo error beginnings of a cockpit postted as a Camel....this is a BARREL!

Vertical stab. added, once again, a gravity "jig!"

Misty enthusiastically watches the glue dry on the fire wall and horiz. stab!

Me thinks that the trial period is still in session on this bird. Lots of room for the builder to use creative thinking. I retract my comment on instruc. Build it as you like!
John M Oshust, Image # 518702 Dec 07 19:47

Tomorrow the firewall. Revised my thoughts on the instructions....seems that this is put stringers where you want. Noting like Guillows plans and instructions....if they only had great WOOD!

Nice loking kit, I was just eyeballing it yesterday on the mfg's site. Pondering on buying one, have to keep an eye on this build and see.

I like the heavy-duty looking construction...this is going to be a humdinger!!!!
