That plane looks great. Is that tail wheel foam also?
simpleflyer, Comment for image # 305101 Jun 07 15:16
Oh, the wheels are I" in dia and laminated from two pieces of approx 1/8" thick foam.

Thanks and yes, Brian. Thanks, John, the wheels were made from scrap black foam. Go to this link: http://tinyurl.com/29zmzt It will take you to a thread at SmallFlyingArts. Page 15 and scroll down to message #288. I illustrate and describe the procedure that I use.

Outstanding model..hope it is a good flyer for you. I, too, am interested in what kind and where you got the wheels...JGJ

Very nice indeed... are those foam wheels?

Rubber motor installed. 2 loops of 1/8 tan SS. Test flights indicate that it wants to fly. Needs some trim, wants to drop the left wing.

Airframe completed. Motor installation and test flights next.

Thanks, Brian, to expedite the completion, I'm going to follow your idea of painting the side windows in with marker pen and installing a paper front windshield.

Looking good!

Tissue applied. Cub will soon be done.
simpleflyer, Image # 299326 May 07 15:25

Skeleton view. Will use yellow tissue for the wings and tail and white for the fuse.

Thanks, Brian, for the comment. Our Cub is OK, but not that great. The soft focus of our 'EasyShare Kodak' and image size editing overlooks many small structural imperfections.

This already looks better that mine... Brian
simpleflyer, Image # 296422 May 07 19:06

Fuselage is done.
simpleflyer, Image # 296322 May 07 19:04

Subassemblies are glued up.
simpleflyer, Image # 289217 May 07 18:45

A few more bits today and the tail parts are dry and sanded. No part #s on the diecut parts. Lightly sanded them off so they would not show thru the tissue cover after application.

Tail surfaces framed. The die cut wood in our kit was very light, almost fragile. But the stripwood was firm. If, built carefully, it should be a good flier.
