This craft reminds me of the Miles Magister which a friend of mine learnt to fly, in the 1950's.

Crash protector. Kinda like having a roll bar on our convertible. Fits in the 4 holes behind hte front cockpit.

Ed, this is my uncle at Blackland Base in Waco in '44. They were silver then.

This was one of the first pictures I found. Sure looks fabric covered to me, but then I actually found a description of the construction.
Don C, Comment for image # 4277827 Oct 20 10:32
Actually they were plywood covered except for the sides of the fuselage and the control surfaces. Took me a long time to figure that out because some of the pictures sure look like fabric covered wings

Looks smooth, was PT-19 all metal with fabric control surfaces?
edbecky, Comment for image # 4277826 Oct 20 18:58
Nicely done Don. What do you have in mind for the color scheme?
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 4277826 Oct 20 14:23
looks bigger than that! i thought it was 30".
Don C, Comment for image # 4277826 Oct 20 14:21
About 24", Brian. Unless you mean the real one. Then 36 feet.

I love this effort Don. The primary and advanced trainers of the war played such a huge role in preparing the allied pilots for battle - whether in bomber command, fighter or ferry pilots, having suitable training aircraft was vital. Your project appears headed toward the usual high level result. Beauty!
