We are on the same boat, Jerry.

I can't really tell you how many hours I've spent because I'm retired with a very understanding wife and I can spend what time I want on my hobby. But this one is going exceptionally fast. It has rather surprised me how fast it has gone.

Jerry- How many hours have you spent to get the wings,vert/horiz stabilizers up to this stage? Let alone the fuselage.

I installed a few more stringers for strength and then trimmed off the front tip of each rib so I could add a stringer to the leading edge and sanded it smoth giving me a streng and rounded leading edge.

The Guillows booklet "HOW TO bUILD AND..." is an excellent source of building tips and deserves a second look for even the experienced builder since it features the Fw 190.

Ahhhhhhhh. Thank you. I always thought once the D9 came out that was what ze Germans used until the end of the war. I've never built a BBS kit - there are so many Guillows kits I haven't built yet. Maybe I should get out of my comfort zone.

This is not the in line variant, it's just the late radial variant. However there is an in line Fw 190D-9 available from Blue Bottle Squadron you can look at. It is quite a nice kit.I used after market decals that really looked good.
CPN, Comment for image # 1717124 Mar 10 19:28
This is just great - I've always wanted to convert this kit to one of the inline engine variants.
jerry campbell, Image # 1717324 Mar 10 11:48

The wings and tail feathers have had fixed tabs added in five positions.
jerry campbell, Image # 1717224 Mar 10 11:47

The fuselage has been increase in length and the spine has been cut down to accept the blown hood from the Blue Bottle Squadron Fw 190D-9.

To lengthen the fuslege I added 4mm to the outline formers A1, A3 and A4, which allowed the B1 former to be moved forward by 4mm.

The back cover has a color painting of the scheme I intend to use in finishing my F-8. A machine flown by the adjutant of SG 2 in Hungary during January 1945.
jerry campbell, Image # 1716924 Mar 10 11:36

I made a copy of the general arrangemet drawing and made notes of the changes and details that I felt should be made to the kit to turn it into an F-8.
