Thanks Steve. Must have experienced a brain freeze. Getting up at 3:30am and a 150 mile round trip to NYC every day, well I guess I missed this post; or it could have been the Coor's. Me thinks it was the latter. A totally different kind of vice used for modeling. |

DD, thanks for the little bit of history. He seems very proud to have these items hanging from his ceiling, much as we all would. The underside of the Corsair is beautiful. What ever happened to your idea of the Macchi 200? |

Through a contact at the Pima Air Museum, south of Tucson, I got a commission in 2002 to build the B 17 as the Memphis Belle for the Reagan Presidential Library to be part of their exhibit about WW 2 in the summer of 2002. When the man came to pick it up in a van I gave him the other three which had been hanging in the local hobby shop. They were all part of the display which included uniforms, weapons, posters, etc, etc, etc....When the exhibit was over the planes were headed to storage but this man had become the boss and he decided they were too fragile for that so he hung them in his office so he could watch over them. When I called the other day to see if I could get some pics he was super friendly and highly complimentary. Rob's title is a bit modest. The man he replaced had a Doctorate in history and I would guess he does, too. Nice folks! |

These 4 are at the Reagan Presidential Library and were used in a display about WW2 in 2002. |

Much easier!! The instructions say you MUST taper and shape the leading edge before installing it but I don't agree. Tapering is a must but trying to carve it into a rounded shape is a nightmare. As it is here, I've used a xacto to match the LE to the curvature of the ribs and then sanded it. Now the remaining shaping can easily be done with a sanding block and very little carving will be required. |

Hi DD, I notice that your leading edges are not formed yet, do you find that it is easier to sand them after??? |
