Glad I could put the stash to some use. I just noticed that the P-38 decals are slightly different, I'll have to do a little research to find out why. Update: I don't see any variants like the smaller decal on the P-38 shown here: http://www.militaryplanes.co.uk/a-mark.html so it is either an issue with the decals or the angle and light in this photo.

Looks like the B-17 decals will work just fine. Thank you:-)

Decal comparison for David.

It looks to me like they kept the dies for E unchanged and just altered the printing to not point out the extra wingtip "E1" on that sheet, but sheet D needed alterations to the die and printing.

You can see a larger 2.5MB version of this scan here if needed: http://swm1.com/models/guillows/B-29/DEE_erroneous_sheets.jpg

The "bad" sheets of one D and two E.

The "good" sheets of two D and one E.

Fortunately I have lots of 3/32" stock.:-)

It is my belief that some early run B-29 kits came with one sheet of "D" and two of "E" in error. This error results in only having enough parts for one fuselage side keel and stabilizer tip (S12), among other parts. Then Guillow's corrected the error by adding the wing tip part to the "D" sheet and shipped two of them and one of "E". I think David will find he needs to cut a few new parts from 3/32" stock.

Recently I got another B-29 and while checking its contents for completeness I noticed it had one sheet of "D" and two of "E" and my other kit had two of "D" and one of "E". I asked David about it and he un-sealed his kit and counted one of "D" and two of "E" sheets and commented that the numbers on the sheets tell if if you should have one or two of them. As you can see above, the numbering of the kit on the left and the kit on the right shows I have all the pieces that I need.

I'm not going crazy after all.

The seller also has an extra set of the decals and a couple of the pieces of sheet wood parts that are for sale.

For those looking to buy a B-29, a kit has been listed for sale on the Guillow's forum.

Strange, I wonder why it went down, bid retraction maybe. You're right of course, it could have a B-17 in it. But then if I leave it sealed I can sell it to some collector who will pay a mint then buy a "build quality" kit or see if Creosotewind can get it - what is list for the B-29?
Creosotewind, Comment for image # 678909 May 08 13:47
I still see this kit and the other large Guillows kits at some of the local hobby stores. If someone really wants one for the list price, let me know and I could pick it up for them.

The market is volatile! I see it's back down to $162 now...
David Duckett, Comment for image # 678909 May 08 06:09
That's stupid!
SteveM, Comment for image # 678909 May 08 02:21
I'm thinking maybe now is time to try to sell this kit. I just can't believe my eyes!
