Unfortunately I got dope on the scoops which distorted their shape somewhat. I will learn better on the next one. I had to recess the exhaust pipes on the Fw 190A using the same technique, I'll be more careful with the dope.

This is great! The scoops are particulary impressive because I know they are not easy.

No, no prop. She is to be hung and when I don't do a landing gear I have stopped doing props. Besides I'm not very good at props and this one is a bear. I've just started a Guillow's 502 Fw 190A-1 which will have the wheels down and will have a prop.

I would dare to disagree with you Jerry! I think you did a great job on her in my humble opinion! It certainly is a unique aircraft. Are you going to put a prop on her?

The Diels Shinden is a very good kit, unfortunately I did not do it justice. I started it while waiting for the Fw 190D-9 which arrived early and I hurried to finish the Shinden in order to start on the D-9.

Recieved the decals from Dave Diels and finally finished the Shinden.

I was able to get in touch with Dave Diels who quickly replace both sets of decals for me.

Thanks DD, but I need four 1 5/8" and two 1 3/8, the Rufe's are too small and the Zero's are too big.

I'm not sure what exactly folks use, but I seem to remember a number of people printing their own decals on special decal paper...that might be an option.
David Duckett, Comment for image # 1056721 Jan 09 20:58
Decals for the Guillows Rufe are 1 7/8" (47mm) and 1 3/8" (35mm) and have a white band around the outside.

Unfortunately after applying future I tried to apply the kit decals and they broke up. I then got the decals from a Diels Ki 44 kit that I had not started yet, they would not come off of the backing paper. I'm going to write to Diels for replacements, but in the meantime I can't finish the Shinden. Does anyone know of some 1/24th after-market Japanese meatballs that will fit. The Ki 44 decals were the same size. In th meantime I'm going to work on a 1/24th Fw 190D-9 from Bluebottle Squadron, a new company in England. The kit is lazer cut and looks realy good in the box.

I am pleased at the airbrushed seperation between upper and lower surfaces. The next step is a coat of Future.
jerry campbell, Image # 1056620 Jan 09 22:27

The first coat of Tamiya paint airbrushed on. Upper surfaces are Japanese Navy Green over Japanese Navy Light Gray, both have been lightened with white (20%).

Great work! Tricky stuff.
jerry campbell, Image # 1054520 Jan 09 00:52

The air intakes and scoops have been added and the fuselage insides of the intakes and the scoops have been painted black.
jerry campbell, Image # 1054420 Jan 09 00:43

I painted interior of the air intakes and scoops black for depth.

This is pretty much a great build Jerry...I especially like the out of the ordinary builds like your Shinden here. Keep up the good work!
