Thanks for the compliments! This one was not bad at all to build. I usually try to build light and basic, and hope for good flying. I see all of the other work on this website and it just inspires me to try and do better on every build.

I'm currently working with a whole bunch of those old Comet Kits, and I'm here to tell you, they ain't anywhere as easy to build as they look. You done mighty good!

Great looking Porterfield. A really nice model. This was the first kit I built back in the '60s. Mine didn't look as good as this one.

You got that right! I just appreciate this website to be able to learn from the pros and to see great models displayed.

I like using colored tissue, leave painting to the pros like David Duckett.

Yeah, I built some Comet kits back in the '70's, then just got back into this a few years ago. The yellow on this one is left over from my Peck-polymers J-3, and the white is Guillow's. I have been getting my other colors from Easy Built. BTW - Your work on your planes with the color tissue is outstanding!

Back in the day Comet used to sell colored tissue.

I was considering painting it at first and after covering it I think I will leave it as is and just paint the wing and landing gear struts.

For some reason, domestic tissue looks just right on vintage builds.....

Thanks! That's what I am aiming for. This is using all original materials on this run except for the tissue; that is left over from some other past kits. I may end up building another wih new wood sometime down the road.

This is a great flyer, good job. Love those vintage Comet kits.

Finishing the framework, just need to do some sanding on the fuselage. I am using the original wood for this one. I will maybe build another one of these with new wood. I had one about 35 years ago and it was a decent flyer.
