Howard, the FW-190 was actually finished at the beginning of February and this particular photo was taken much later for the reason posted above. If you delve back further into the gallery of photos for this particular model you will see that it was actually started in October 2006 - well before the 'official' start date for this year's challenge. I therefore felt it was against the spirit of the challenge to enter it in 2007 when it was already well under way. I hope this answers both your questions!

CD, Two questions, where do you find the time, and if this one was done on August 16 why didn't you enter this one in the "G" Challenge? You would have made the judging much harder. You are getting really good.

cd - No offence taken! On the contrary, to even be mentioned in the same breath with DD and poppy is at the very least flattering! I have never built a balsa plane before so I've got a long way to go before I can come close to the high standards that everyone here has. Details are one thing but the real key is to be able to pull all of those details together into a coherent whole and all the while maintaining a consistently high standard of fit and finish. That is the real challenge. :)

Wow, thanks chaps! DD and poppy - it's always an honour to receive praise from THE two undisputed masters of the art. PB - thank you for your kind words :-) I'm glad you think my model worthy of such an accolade, and indeed I would be honoured, however I don't think it's ever gonna happen! Oh, and I hope you didn't take offence - your work is excellent also but you will have to go some to equal DD and poppy, although your Stearman build is certainly heading in the right direction!

cd - crisply finished! At first glance, I thought this was the larger 400 series! Camo is beautiful. I think Guillows should use this shot on the box art.

Nice job cob!!!! Dirty big lump of donk hiding under the cowl of those things eh!!!! :) If its a hangar queen, are you going to make up a scale prop for it??
cdwheatley, Comment for image # 239907 Feb 07 08:25
Thanks :-) The wheels are replacements I bought separately and not the solid ones included with the kit.

Thanks. Next one will probably be the series 500 Hellcat, or possibly the Rufe.

Gorgeous! As expected. If I didn't have three kits already waiting the bigger version would be in my hands.

It looks soooooooo good! It even has that little string that goes from the cockpit to the vertical stabilizer! I noticed the holes in the wheel. Did it come that way or did you cut them out?

Ditto. Outstanding job. I might just have to get this kit myself after seeing this.
