Hard to say when the kit was manufactured. It was purchased on Amazon as a new kit(sealed). The copyright date on the plans is 2012 but that really isn't any indication of date made or how it was stored. I agree with you on the older models. I like the laser cut parts but a lot of my builds are scratch so I don't mind cutting out the older kits.

Ed, Thanks for the report on the kit. Do you know when the kit was manufactured? I'm surprised by the issues with the decals. I've seen this when they are old or stored in warm conditions. The wood quality, sadly is an issue everywhere. Hard to get quality wood. That's why I like to buy the older models (60's preferably) on ebay. I feel like they have better wood quality. But you don't get laser cut parts! Life is full of Compromises!

Nice outcome on your Extra...we had the Red Bull air races here for a time. They raced over the harbor from Shelter Island to Coronado. 50’ over the water and balls out for four days of qualifying and finals. I hope they reconsider returning to San Diego - the fan support was tremendous.

Thanks Bob, Kit had it's pros and cons with nicely cut laser pieces and easy to follow instructions. The wood however was very soft and broke easily and I don't even want to discuss decals. I was ready to move on at the end so I got lazy and used the plastic prop. Now back to my Pfalz.

Yes, I went with the paper in the kit but painted over it with a red and white paint so it wouldn't be so transparent. The design as you noted was nice and I enjoyed my first completely cut laser kit. The decals were really bad and came apart in my hand but aside from that it was a good kit to build.

Keep going! The Edge is a beautiful design and a solid kit. Have you thought about what paint scheme you’re going to do?

Yes, unfortunately my quantity surmounts my quality, but I am working on it.

Sent Camel to grandson in Texas to make room for the Edge. Pfalz scheduled to go on wall next to its counterparts.
