This is the place.

This model was built using only the small 2"x4" instruction book that comes with a 500 series Guillows kit. Since then I've read Don Ross' book Rubber Powered Airplanes and Martin Simons' Model Aircraft Aerodynamics. The hobby store was a small owner operator business so I took his advice at face value. He also told me that I could use that paint as an adhesive for the tissue. After lurking on this board for a few weeks I realize how wrong he was. Anyway I'm sure I'll have a question or two on my next build. Is this comment section the best place for those or is there somewhere else that I'm missing? Thanks

I have two pints in the closet. It is a pain in the butt to clean decent brushes in the thinner so I wait till I have at least two planes ready. I heard about something they use in England, but I like the good old fashioned and very dependable Butyrate Dope.

In some parts of the United States dope means a soft drink like Coke :-), or Pepsi.

The man in the hobby store is 100% dead wrong on both counts.

Thanks for the compliments. I have another plane on my board now, a Dumas Fokker EIII. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. The gentleman at the hobby store said nobody uses dope anymore, excepin in Colorado. He recommended this Tamiya acrylic paint to seal the tissue. I'll try something else next plane. The machine guns are cocktail toothpicks. the wheel retainers are made from a scrap of the cowling plastic. Getting the spinner centered around the prop then trued up was tricky.

My first build was a stick and tissue cub for a dime. I can guarantee you it did not come out this nice. What's next?

Very clean looking build, especially for a first one. Looking forward to more!

A heck of a lot better than my first build. Keep up the good work, as you get better you will enjoy it more, and as you enjoy it more you will get better.

First build. Decals wouldn't stick well on flat paint. I plan on getting some more colors and painting ask the markings. I realize the carb air scoop is on the wrong side. Didn't realize the dotted lines in the plan meant hidden view. Weight is 36g now but still needs balanced. Will probably fly like a brick. I learned a lot and had fun building it though.
