In comparing the 1/48 plastic kit to the Cleveland plans I discovered the wheels are actually closer to the Guillows 1 3/4", the wingspan is about 2" too long and it's just over half an inch too long. There are two styles of canopies included in the plastic kit and one is like the one in the Guillows kit. So...the Guillows kit is actually closer to scale! That's alright, I don't mind the differences as long as I'm aware of them.

Even the simplest frames work. This is a clear plastic one, about $5.

Box art is valid wall art when framed and you can find lots of affordable frames, even ones with mat(s) included, at craft stores. You might also consider framing several and hanging them as a group. There are many types of frames which accommodate more than one item, too. You got lots of boxes? Get busy.:-)

Picasso said, "All children are born artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up."

I have to say that's one of my favorites too, up there with the me 110.

There's no need to assemble it. I can get all I need from the pieces and plans.

Yes, it was $25.90 and came from Hong Kong in about 5 days. I get all my plastic kits from ebay. In fact, I get most of the balsa ones there, too.

did you get the Tamiya kit from ebay, david?
David Duckett, Image # 3095501 Mar 14 18:00

Tamiya makes an excellent product!
David Duckett, Image # 3095401 Mar 14 17:59

For reference I'll use this 1/48 scale kit by Tamiya. I think a plastic kit is perfect for getting a model to look correct as many kits are not scale. That's especially important in this case because the Cleveland plans were drawn during the war so accuracy isn't guaranteed.

A quick check with wings palette.com reveals the FW-190A saw service with several countries. Even the United States had some captured ones, and fairly unusual color schemes on them, too.

Sorry for the poor quality photos...the plans are taped to a wall in the dimly lit hallway. They are actually razor sharp.
