I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Our 'hangar' and transportation container for the Javelin and its partners. Hence the concern for short wings(under 22 in) and removeable parts.

Another pic. Cloudy but no rain, which we can use as it is pretty dry.

Modified Javelin flys great.

Javelin tips recovered and ready for test flight.

While we had the tips uncovered, we repaired a couple of spars that had become cracked.

We've removed some wing from the tips of the Javelin reducing it to slightly over 20 inches wingspan.

Test flight of the Javelin after the modification went well.

The tail assembly slid onto the tail mounting platform.

This shows the vertical tail fitted into the horizontal tail.

To accomplish the change we made the following modifications. The wing platform was narrowed. A couple of 1/16 sq strips were attached to the bottom of the vertical tail at A. Notches were cut in the center ribs of the horizontal tail at B that would accept the strips. And capture strips were glued to the bottom of the horizontal tail that will slide over narrowed mounting platform.

Our latest refinement to our trusty Javelin is to change the tail mounting system to a slide on type. Initially, it was held in place with a rubber band as shown in this picture.

Due to the neater wing to fuselage attachment, it seems to fly better than before.

test flight went well

Attachment is now easier and quicker. And, if the magnets are accurately installed, wing to fuse alignment is automatic.

Wing attachment mod for the Javelin. Thanks to Phil Finn we received some neodinum magnets. 3mm x 3mm on the fuselage centerline. 3mm x 1.5 mm on the wing TE and LE.

Nice action shot. Those crewmen are wondering what just flew past.

OK, James, since you liked the Javelin and F-105. Here it is flying with the F-101B. The Voodoo is in a park and playground beside I-10 in Beaumont Texas.

All of the display aircraft were flown by the 23 Fighter Group, the direct descendent of Gen Chennault's AVG in China. The 23rd was based at EAFB from 1972 to 1992.
