hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 28-May-25 22:02 | | Views : 74 | I got back to work on the wings. I did do a slight redesign but it is still going to have bamboo wing tips as the plan calles for. This is not my first experience with 1930s building techniques. |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:26 | | Views : 118 | This is how I ended up tonight with the cowl fitted, the canopy bows installed and the temporary brace cut out of the cockpit. Today the fuselage...Tomorrow, the wings! |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:24 | | Views : 115 | I assembled the key in the back of the cowl. |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:22 | | Views : 192 | I finally got all the 1/32" stringers on it. |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:19 | | Views : 119 | Working over the same plan, I pinned down my keel and working from back to front, using my right angle tools I put in the formers, after I put the 1/16" square side keel on I took the falf shell off the plan and used the popsicle stick and smalll clamp method to put the other half of the fromers on. |

hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:13 | | Views : 143 | I changed it to half shell construction with 1/16" squared keels and preceeded to laser cut new parts |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:11 | | Views : 114 | The article calls for building it on a crutch, freehanded, from the wings out. I decided that the way the build was described in the 1938 article was insale so I decided to build it on a proper crutch using the same plan. I have to problems with horizontal crutch fuselages but this one still proved problematic and after II had the formers glued in and cur the crossmembers out of the crutch before putting the 1/32" square stringers on I realized that I was buildg a banana so I changed plan. |

hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 25-May-25 00:03 | | Views : 106 | I started with the cowl. I laminated it the way the plan called for but I like to make it removable and I like trapizoidal keys. Chucked up in my Dremel drill press isanding it to shape was short work. |
hjlittman | Scratch Built Brewster Buffalo | Build | 24-May-25 23:57 | | Views : 412 | I, for some unknown reason, decided to build a Herb Weiss F2A for a peanut contest. First, I discovered that the Herb Weiss Minute Models are larger than Peanut size. I scaled down the plan, traced the parts, and laser cut them. |
