Well, Santa Claus came and brough me some upgrades to the man cave! A Dremel "work stand", I now have a drill press on my work table. A magnifying light is SO much better! I also now have a Jones Balsa stripper...what a cool tool! And Santa brought me Bill Hannan's book "Peanut Power"...I'm stocked and stoked for the winter building!!!

Current status of Piper Cub restoration. The modeler who built it did a nice job but built it very heavy. So I'm trying to sand off all the old paint, and lighten where possible. I built new tail feathers using the solid pieces as templates and have saved over 5g just there alone. Should reduce the nose weight needed and help it fly better!

Added some letters and control outlines. This was after several very nice flights. I had to add quite a bit of lead to the nose to offset the solid tail feathers, but it still flew very well.

trainer with wing covered and installed. On the 2nd test flight the plane cartwheeled on landing and broke the tail off, right at the rear peg. The wood is very old and brittle and that is a weak spot in the fuse. So I repaired it with some braces.

another shot with the bare bones wing on it. I removed the old tissue, sanded & prepped the bones and ready for covering.

here's the basic 'trainer' partially restored. I used one of the "vintage" props, painted the fuse and tailfeathers and installed a Peck Polymers thrust button and shaft. 1 loop of 3/16" FAI tan.
