PARTS CUT OUT - I put in a new #11 Exacto blade knife and cut out all of the parts from the "Printwood" balsa sheets (first time). I find that you can even cut against the grain with a sharp blade, a steel ruler, and a "cutting mat". I am still working on the sizing up of all of the notches, and test fitting with a small piece of 1/16" square balsa stringer, to snugly accept the 1/16" square balsa stringers, as close as I can.

FLEET CANUCK PLAN - here is a pic of the plan - it has FLOATS. The plan actually looks very good - downthrust for the noseblock, positive incidence on the wing, slight negative incidence on the stab, but no incidence on the floats as compared to the fuse datum. I have to make a removable nose block as per the supplied extra sheet of instructions, that came with the kit. There is no removable nose block on the original plan.

Although they were well built, strong performers, AND versatile - skis or floats - the post WW2 period had too many surplus ex-military A/C for sale, there was not enough interest in the civilian population for luxury items, and "training" aircraft were not in demand, as thousands of ex-military pilots were out of work and they were already trained to fly ...

Fleet "CANUCK" - Canada's GEM of the North. 225 Fleet CANUCKS were built by two manufacturers during its 13 year production run - 1946-1958 - with the majority of them built by "Fleet" from 1945 to 1947.

It was a "CULT" aircraft with a vintage 1946 look. It was a tough, rugged, and exceptionally roomy, and forgiving, 2-seater.

The Fleet "CANUCK" had a 34 foot Wingspan and was 22 feet long, with a delicate under camber on the lower fuse. It had five basic instruments and a compass. It had a very roomy 40" wide cockpit, which was remarkable for its day. It had two seats side by side and dual control sticks for training.

I found this needed "diversion" sitting on the shelf - my 20" Fleet "CANUCK" kit (printwood) from Easy Built, kit FF-62 - 1:20 scale - a MODEL CRAFT kit designed by Roy Thomason in 1986.
