Very nice work. I've also got the B-25 kit, so I will be following your build of that closely :) |

Absolutely gorgeous! It's been out of production for some time, when did you get the kit?
The Cobra was not exactly the "Iron Dog" in the hands of well trained pilots. Now that we have access to the GPW pilot diaries we know that the Russians absolutely loved their Cobrushka's and their top aces got most of their kills in them. Cobras were always used by the Russians as low-altitude air superiority fighters, not for tank busting as our news reports said. Another telling thing is that the Cobra was the only Russian fighter that the Finnish fighter pilots absolutely feared even after they had switched to Bf-109s. (See the Finnish air force web site.)
I have to wonder if any Cobra in Russian service was ever this pristine.
Beautiful job! |

Another artifact from the David Duckett Exhibit located in the Marana Air Museum. Truly a masterpiece. |

Thanks, again! The paint job is totally made up. After this was finished I saw a pic of a real one-solid white and the star on the tail was much larger and it all looked a bit "used". That's to be expected on a real plane, especially IN RUSSIA during the Winter. Mine will never even see snow probably. And it is MY paint. ;-) I got the kit on eBay last March and the testicle has nearly regrown. It's probably one of the very best kits they ever made, everything fits as it should, and it's a shame that it is no longer in production. |
