The plane has been higher, prior to installation of the altimeter. You MUST keep your eye on it all the time. Look away, then look back, and your eyes will have a hard time focusing on an object that small, you can easily lose the model. I have had the plane higher, to where it was literally a yellow spec, no clear or decernible detail of wings. This was in excess of 1000 feet, something I will probably NOT do again!
